Unit 3: Canada

Task 1:  Title Page and Checklist

Create a title page and tape the checklist into the next blank page of your notebook to mark the start of Unit 3:  Canada. 

Task 2a: Political Map of Canada (9/27/24)

Step 1: Grab a copy of the map from the front of the room.  Label all the Provinces and their Capital Cities.  Color the map following the instructions below.  

The labels on the map must be easy to see and written well enough that I can read them.  You should not color two contiguous provinces (Provinces that share a border) the same color.   Your map will tell you what you need to color and label. 

Task 2b: Physical Map of Canada (9/27/24)

Step 1: Grab a copy of the Physical map from the front of the room.  Label all the physical features listed on the map's instructions.    Make sure you mark any mountain ranges with a line of triangles ^^^^^^.   After you are done labeling, lightly color the map such that it roughly matches the coloring of the Atlas page you used to label the map.  

Task 3: Seterra Review Games (9/27/24)

Click the button below to launch the Seterra games.  You will need to work on this until you can get 100% without looking at your map.

Task 4: Physical Features GimKit (9/27/24)

Click the button below to launch the GimKit.  You will be tested over both physical features and Capitals and Cities at the end of the Unit.

Task 5: First Face of America (9/30/24)

Click the button below for your class period to watch the "First Face of America"  documentary.  Make sure you answer all of the questions that pop up during the video.  You do not need to write notes from the video down however major themes/events from the video will be on our end of unit exam. 

Task 6: Indigenous Peoples of Canada (10/1/24)

Click the Image to the Right to view the Website that Contains the reading necessary to answer all of the questions for this assignment.  Once you have opened the reading in a new tab, click on your class period below to open the Google Doc with the questions you need to answer. 

Task 7: Cultural Mosaic of Canada (10/1/24)

Click the button below for your class period to access the assignment.  You will need to use the reading on the first page of the Google doc to answer all of the questions on the second page of the Google Doc. 

Task 8: Emigration and Immigration (10/2/24)

Read through the Google Slides below.  Use the slides to complete notes on the Emigration and Immigration.  Then you can use those notes to complete the assignment linked below the slides.  You need to drag all the tiles to the correct spot on the assignment to complete it.  

Task 9:  History of Canada Notes

Use the video below to help you complete your History of Canada note sheet.  If you didn't get a copy of the notes from Mr. Tanner you can print out your own copy from the file below.

Task 10: Types of Government Notes

Grab a copy of the "Types of Governments Notes" from Mr. Tanner or print out your own copy from the Google Doc below. Tape the notes into your social studies notebook and then watch the video below to fill out your notes.

Task 11: Types of Governments Summary Table

Click the link below for your class period to access the Google Classroom assignment.  Use your "Types of Government Notes and the video from Task 10 to help you fill out the summary table attached to the assignment.  (Turn in the assignment when you are done)

Task 12: Types of Economic Systems Notes

Grab a copy of the "Economic Systems" Note sheet from Mr. Tanner or print your own copy off from below.  Watch and listen to the YouTube video to help you understand the material and fill out your notes.

Task 13: Factors of Production and Sectors of the Economy 

Use the Slideshow on the right to complete and the notes from the types of Economic Systems to complete the assignment linked below.

Task 14: EverFi Personal Financial Literacy

Watch the YouTube video below to ensure you know how to set it up.  Then Open the Google Doc attached and use the instructions to set up your account.  Make sure you read the instructions to know what your username and password should be.  

You need to complete Lessons 1,2,3,4 and 6 by the end of the Day Friday.

After completing EverFi you should be able to answer all of the questions below.  If you don't know any of the answers you need to look the answer up online.

Task 16: Province of Canada Research Project

Click below to open the assignment in Google Classroom.  

You will be assigned a Province that you will need to research. (If you are absent from school you can choose your province)  You will then answer all of the questions on the Google Doc.  This will serve as your research guide to ensure you have all the necessary information.  After you have finished your research guide, you will need to build a slideshow containing all the information you researched.  Instructions for the slideshow are included at the bottom of the Google Doc Research Guide.  

You only need to complete one research guide and one presentation for your whole group.
